Level 1 Bridge Course Fundamental Skills Instructor

OR Level 1 Recertification Course (SAME COURSE)

Level 1 Bridge Course Information:

Length: A 1-day course that certifies an individual as a Fundamental Skills Instructor. ( It also acts as a recertification for a previous level one certification)

Cost: $325 CAD (NOTE:  the checkout on the BICP registration page shows the fees in USD.   Your final CAD amount may vary depending on the daily exchange rates, and there are added Canadian Stripe Fees/Credit Card Fees of up to 2.5%)

Dates & Locations: 

April 30th, 2021 at the Edmonton Ski Club  OR

May 21st, 2021 at the Blairmore Skills Park in the Crowsnest Pass

The BICP recommends that participants that have been certified prior to 2020 attend a Bridge course, this will provide you with the updated curriculum.

Attending a bridge course will reset your certification date.

This course introduces stability and biomechanics, teaching strategy, site selection, goal setting, proper demonstrations, teaching points, keywords, progressions, and error detection for 16 skills.

Our Expectations: We expect to see that as a rider you have mastered the Fundamental Elements and can demonstrate and teach ANY of the Level 1 skills on your first attempt along with proper error detection and correction using positive critique.

We will expect that you are comfortable and fluent with all current keywords and teaching points along with proper demonstrations and progressions performed using FLAT PEDALS.

  • Bike/Body Separation
  • Braking
  • Shifting
  • Ratcheting
  • Riding Straight Lines
  • Small Circles and Switchbacks
  • Rock Dodge
  • Climbing Dismount
  • Seated Climb
  • Standing Climb
  • Crouched Climb
  • Restarting on a Climb
  • Descending Dismount
  • Descending for Beginner to Intermediate trails
  • Roll Down

Level 1 Ride Standards

Each student will be tested on their ability to demonstrate, teach, and provide feedback through error detection and corrections.

In order to pass the BICP Level 1 course, participants must pass a pretest, demonstrate an understanding of the material, perform a suitable teaching simulation, and pass a final written exam.

L1 RECERTIFICATION

FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS INSTRUCTOR

Length: A 1-day course

Time: 8 am – 5 pm

Dates: Friday, May 21, 2021.

Cost: $325.00 CDN. All participants must be in good standing with annual membership dues.

Why: All BICP Level 1 instructors are required to recertify in-person every four years. Recertification is essential for maintaining a level of quality and standards among all BICP certified instructors. BICP protocols such as recertification make this a leading training program that provides maximal credential value to instructors. Stay current with BICP training methods and maintain your esteemed certification!
